Last week we dropped Liam off for his very first sleep over with a family from our church and headed to Lincoln City for a night to ourselves. This had been in the works since I watched the kids from three families at our church a few months ago for Couples Retreat. It was a mixed emotion for Liam. I started preparing him a couple weeks in advance. For the first week he was not going to do it without us there. He kept saying 'But you will stay with my...right mommy.' Not really the idea little man. But during the week before hand he had figured out it was just mom and dad going to the beach and Liam was going to have fun playing with Luke and Tori and Katie. Two nights before he was ready to go. And the day we dropped him off he barely said goodbye. He and Luke had already started their two days of play and we were forgotten.
We had a wonderful time.

We were greeted by a king sized bed with rose petals and a fireplace already going....to this view from our balcony! I did not take a picture of the hot tub that was out here with my camera, but there is a hot tub that we enjoyed very much while watching the ocean and the clouds. Due to the clouds there was no pretty sunset.....but we really weren't there for the sunset anyway! It was a lovely night away. And the next day we stretched out our time before picking Liam up about as long as we could. Though I did find myself saying 'wouldn't Liam love this? Wouldn't Liam love that? " over and over. You would think I was missing him! And when we picked him up he was slightly less than happy to see us. And as we pulled out of their driveway he said "I miss Luke already." We felt soooooo special! Craig is already trying to plan another night away and I am reminding him (the voice of reason) that we have $4000 we have to replenish from the truck repair. Getting away like that is not going to happen again for a really long time! He hates the voice of reason. But it is nice to know that if we dropped Liam off and Luke's house and never went back he would suffer no long term problems from it. Just kidding!!
We brought Liam home a couple things, one was this rubber band gun.

He ran and found the ball cap to put on. Several different ones to choose from and he picked the camo type one.
Looks like he is ready to go hunting! I'm thinking daddy is going to need to make him some sort of target.
For several months I have been saying that we need to get rid of the very juvenile bath tub toys and find something a little more age appropriate for Liam. Well...I was coerced into a garage sale last weekend. And as Craig was going through his closet and pulling things out to sell he came across this....

I have heard it said that squirrels will hide their nuts here and there and forget where they hid them. Explaining all the trees (and years ago in our case) peanut plants that pop up everywhere. Well...I am not sure how true that is for squirrels but I know how true that is for me! This was one of the many things I have squirrelled away around the house for future gifts and totally forgot I had. So, it was a very exciting time in the tub the next night playing with his new tub toy!
Here is most of the garage sale we had. It may not look like much but it brought in $226 just for our family! My friend....the coercer made a fair amount as well. Two years ago I had one and swore after two days of misery and making only about $30 that I was never going to do that again. After last Saturday I decided that I might be talked into it again. Maybe.......
Annette found a source of grass fed organic ground beef! These are duo purpose cows that had served their milking purpose and were turned into meat. The clincher is that they were pasture raised and fed. Humanely treated and lived a cows life the way God intended a cow to live. The lady sells her ground beef for $3 a pound!! Today Annette is picking me up $70 worth! In the meantime I have had to do some fancy footwork in the garage freezers.

I took out several gallon bags for berries and made several batches of....
blurry jam. Sorry about the camera. It is the camera...certainly not my photography skills! I now have room for the meat. Feels good to have cleaned out some things that were past their prime. Totally freezer burned. Some meat for Annette to feed her dogs. And all these berries that I took the time to pick and wash and freeze for future use.
I will leave you with a Liamism: The other day we were in Albany and Liam and Craig went into the restroom. Craig came out chuckling and told me this tale. Liam had stood at the urinal and said to Craig "okay daddy, stand behind me" which Craig did. Then Liam said "okay! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, NOW" and started to urinate. I wish I had been there for that!
Have a great afternoon all!
