Liam and his Sister.....
Today we had a wonderful visit with Liam's half sister Grace. Her family is taking a road trip to Seattle and since we are only a couple miles off the freeway it was a perfect opportunity! The last time we saw them was when Liam was 6 months old. Though Grace has gotten taller Liam is the one that did the most changing for obvious reasons!
They were just so special together. And when the visit came to an end Liam was so sad to see her go. But he did handle it like a big boy...giving hugs and throwing kisses.
We need to see them more often than every three years. So we need to plan a trip down there for the not too distant future. Southern CA seems like a world away!

A very sad little boy when he found out Grace had to leave. He held onto her arm and begged to go with her.
This is what happens when a very tired mommy puts on Little Einstein's and snoozes on the sofa. But this is better than what he did yesterday....after being in the bathroom longer than what seemed necessary for the job he had gone in for, I went to check on him.....the water in the toilet was up to the rim and there was no toilet paper on the roll! "It's okay mommy, don't worry, everything will be fine!" Then as I finish cleaning him up the toilet suddenly empties with a huge whoosh..."see mommy, it's fixed...it's okay."
You know, now that I look at this picture closer I see that he also painted his toenails:) So glad this is washable marker...maybe I ought to check the carpet where he did this little spa treatment.
Yesterday he asked me if I was a princess, I said yes, then he asked if he was a boy princess, I said that a boy princess is a prince...he said "no, I am a boy princess." And tonight he gave his daddy a 'shampoo, cut and curl'. It was really cute...then he put pretend pink, purple and yellow bows in his hair and called him a princess. Daddy was a good sport about that.
God has watered my garden very nicely today. The tomato plants look really good. The yellow is gone and I pulled off all the blossoms so they had a chance to grow a little bigger before setting fruit. I will have to re-seed the green beans...AGAIN....! Out of 24 feet I have three plants that came up this time. And I dug around looking for seeds and found none! This happened to my sister also. We both planted heirloom's from the Silverton seed exchange. So, my heirloom cabbage came up, some of the heirloom chard came up, my heirloom cucumbers have had to be seeded twice and they are fighting for life right now. My pink brandywine came up and are doing great. Not one of my Opalka tomatoes grew past the first two leaves which was a real disappointment. I am going to be picking up the Italian Roma green bean seeds from a nursery in Salem and planting them. They do fabulous every year and what I may have to do is just buy a good stock of them and keep them in the freezer for future use since I do feel a food crisis is on the horizon and seeds will be very valuable. But I am learning that heirlooms can not always be counted on.
Years ago I memorized a little saying....'who plants a seed beneath the sod and waits to see, believes in God'. Isn't that the truth!
It seems as though I have been running for forever! Going here and there and always having something to do. On Monday we visited the Bonneville dam with my mother in law. Did I manage to take one picture of Liam looking at or feeding the fish...nooooo. did I manage to take one picture of any of us doing anything? Noooooo. But I did take a couple pictures of the surrounding mountains. Beautiful!

I've been to a few other states but I think Oregon is the most beautiful!
Well...I think I have caught you up again. Friday and Saturday I will be in Portland at the Homeschool Convention! I am so looking forward to that! I have decided to start him with Rod and Staff curriculum. And begin when he is four. Then play it by ear. I want learning to be a joy and exciting. If he is not ready then we will check back in at five:)
Have a wonderful rest of your week!
