I have a friend named Susan. Susan likes to go to garage sales. Something I love doing but rarely get the chance. She also knew that we were really wanting an umbrella for the back patio. So one day a couple months ago she knocks on the door and hands us an umbrella. It was so wonderful! Such a wonderful shade it gave our patio. It gets the morning sun and as you know this has been a miserable hot summer...way too much morning sun for my taste! We enjoyed it so much...for about a week. Then one night we had a freak strong wind storm that picked up that umbrella and tossed it across the yard. Breaking two of the ribs. We were still able to use it..sort of. Craig, being taller, managed to hit his head on it every time he walked near it. So what do you do about this situation? You tell Susan you are once again looking for an umbrella. And what does a good friend like Susan do? She finds you another one at another garage sale!
We are once again in the shade! Thank you Susan:)
So the garden is done for the most part. We still have some grapes on the vine. And there is still quite a bit of soup beans that are maturing. But last week we pulled all the other beds up and Craig and Liam took a trip to the yard debris part of the dump. I will be posting a final tally of what I got this year in a later post. But I did have two interesting pieces of produce.

I think it looks like a heart. This is one of my Amish Paste tomatoes. Not much of a paste tomato shape. But the flavor is amazing!
And I had two that did this...I discovered it when I pulled the stem off. I think it is so pretty. I saw a picture of a cucumber that looked like a swan looking back behind itself. It was amazing. I don't have any interesting stuff like that happen out back but these two tomatoes made me smile.
