Have you guessed what that is a picture of? I was cleaning a few weeks ago...and closed the lid of this lunch box to find all of the gum Liam has recently saved. This is not a first. But this time I remembered to take a picture.
Again I must apologize. Not even my brother has asked about this poor neglected piece of the internet. I have been totally given up on. Can I once again say that I promise to do better? I have been doing a lot of canning and gardening. We had a painting project that lasted a few days. How can painting a dark blue onto a light green take three coats!!!!???? How are my excuses so far?

A few months ago Liam came to us and said he no longer liked his bedroom. Why ever not we questioned! "Because it is a babies room. I am not a baby!" He picked out his paint colors. Piston Cup Blue and Growl Green. And here he is putting on the very first stroke! You may be full of amazement about how we let him help us paint...such wonderful, patient parents we are.....well...this was pretty much his last stroke since we are not so wonderful and patient and he got sort of wild with the brush and just generally made a pest out of himself. So he retired to his.....
Toilet box fort. One of the upstairs toilets had never worked quite right and it quit flushing all together so we replaced it. You may now be thinking 'you poor woman....having to deal with a box in an already crowded room where painting is going on right next door' ....but before you pity me too much I will confess. The box fort was my idea. I have learned!!!
So along with new colors and décor (which you will see as soon as it is up) had to come a new big boy bed!

A big boy does not want a Thomas the Train toddler bed!
A big boy wants this kind of bed! This was my nieces. But it is much better suited to a boy. He loves it. There is even a large crawl space behind it where he can hide out! With built in dressers we were able to get rid of the rickety dresser he had been using and make more room on the floor for play...but who wants to play on the floor when you can play in the bed!?
No more pictures of his bedroom until it is all done! We have to wait 30 days before the murals can go up. I plan on pushing that a little.

Give a child a stamp....and this will happen.
Give a child sunglasses and this will happen.....
I am having a wonderful zucchini year! This is the first year that they have grown for me here. Seven years and my first zucchini! So, with all this zucchini you would think I have gotten creative. Well, not really. I have shredded and froze enough for about 20 loaves of bread. I have sautéed enough to feed a small country. I have given away quite a bit as well. But then I sat there looking at a couple large ones and wondered what to do with them. And that is when my mind went back in time. One of those sweet nostalgic trips down memory lane. Each year my dad planted a good sized garden and forced...er, let us 'help' him. One year I remember in particular he sectioned off a space for each of us. Annette was such a good weeder nothing grew. I think Lance and I had varying degrees of 'garden gone wild' syndrome. I only remember that happening one year. Wonder why? Anyway, mom would dutifully fix whatever dad brought in. To this day I love beets slow cooked with the greens. I think I will check my beets tomorrow! But I digress...mom fried the best zucchini on the planet as far as I was concerned. It doesn't matter that it was the only fried zucchini I ever ate. So I decided to give it a try.

They turned out fabulous!! So wonderful that I have allowed...ya right!.....several to get large enough to make a really good slice of wonderfulness!
Have I ever mentioned anything about these plates you have seen a time or two? They belonged to my grandma Sellon. She bought them with S&H green stamps sometime in the late 60's early 70's. There is not one single nick on any of the pieces! The picture is still vibrant on them also. I would love to have a different set...something a little more versatile maybe...but I used to eat the most wonderful pie on these plates. So I will keep them.

We have been talking about getting a fire pit for a couple years. But talk had to become action once the family four year old found out about smore's. So here he is, Saturday night, roasting his first marshmallow. And I will say it was nice sitting by it. I love the smell of wood smoke. The temperature was perfect. I have got to talk to Craig about where he perches his glasses...he is starting too look like a man in his 50's! Aren't those Black Eyed Susan's beautiful! They are in a large metal tub and will need to be separated and transplanted soon. But I sure enjoy them.
So...has this very newsy and picture packed post made up in a small way for my lack of attention to my poor blog? I hope so. To me, there is nothing more frustrating than going to a favorite blog to find that they have not posted..again....!
I will now leave you with a Liamism: We are working on the whole 'gentleman' thing. Holding the door open for ladies and such. Last week I was bringing in some groceries and Liam also had a bag. Somehow with my hands full I managed to hold the screen door open just long enough for him to squeeze through and he said "Thanks momma, thanks for being a gentleman".
I will give you a bonus Liamism to make up for my long absence: One morning recently after I asked how he slept he said "Sometimes I have dreams of playing games with Ausia, Shanae, Autumn, Luke and Katie" (these are friends from church). 'what about Tori?' I asked. "Tori never comes to my dreams" he replied. I think I need to have a talk with her!
