Earlier this month we had our first camping trip in many many years...and Liam had his first ever! We asked him how he liked camping and he said "It was perfect!" We did have a wonderful time. We went with friends and had side by side camp sights,
Across from the tent was where the truck and boat were parked. I did not get a picture of that. But then you guys have seen the boat on the trailer before....but have you seen it much in the water? Well hold on to your seats!
After so much fun on the water there were some hungry people so we roasted hotdogs and had some lunch.
Lots of swimming happened. It brought back memories playing in the black tire tubes.
Three of the boys we camped with and their really big....what do you call this thing?
Our friends Rich and Melanie brought their jet ski...I got my first ride ever on it....then later that day they blew a piston or some such mechanical term and the jet ski was out of commission for the rest of the trip.
We had a great time. The weather was supposed to have been drizzly and cool. But it turned out to be quite sunny and warm. And the lake was not too cold either. We camped at Honeyman state park. And this lake was right across Hwy 101 from the camp ground. I will attempt to tell you the name of this lake... something like Woahink....or close to that. It was beautiful. When we came back to the camp ground after one of our little excursions we found we had had a visitor.
The little character was working on a nest since there was little of the paper towel pieces laying in the box. He or she came back often...quite a bold little thing. But the really annoying visitor we had was the crow. I know it was the same one each morning...I just know it. Right above our tent...at the second the sky started to change from dark to light...he started cawing. He did not stop until the sun was up and we were getting out of the tent. How do I know this...because after I finally got to sleep...probably a minute before...he started. All three mornings. That has to be the one time I was really upset that Craig left his gun at home.
I just realized I got pictures of the paper towel roll but none of us around the fire. Or doing any other camping type things. We are hoping to get in another trip or two toward the middle to end of August and maybe the first couple weeks of September. We since have gotten some really great mattresses for free from Rich's work and a few more camping things that we realized we needed. We are all set now!
I will leave you with a parting shot and a Liamism: Today Liam called me from the toilet to let me know he was done going doo doo. I told him he could wipe himself.
"But I am tired of wiping myself mommy!"
'Well I have been wiping you for over 5 years and I am really tired of it!' I answered back.
"Then I guess you better just get rid of me then." he called back to me. He can be so dramatic!
And now for the parting shot...camping can sure take it out of a fellow and this is what we noticed on our way home....his hand is in a bag of chips. That is how we discovered he had fallen asleep. The chip bag quit rustling.
