And......Laundry Day.....
Most people who know me know that I have always felt like I was born about 100 years too late. I have never felt like I fit in this century. Down deep though, I know that God has me here for 'such a time as this'. And I will admit....doing laundry as pictured here is not the most appealing thing.
My grandmother Duncan gave me the washboard that she 'chased many a pair of coveralls up and down" several years before she passed away. Then in the summer of 2000 I took it off the wall and used it with Amanda (the young lady from the last post) for an Old Fashioned Day. We cooked with the wood stove, washed clothes with the washboard, hung them on the line outside and had no tv or radio going. So of course we missed the evacuation warning because of a forest fire just on the other side of the power lines. That did cut short Old Fashioned Day but we still had fun while it lasted. We spent the next couple hours sitting on the front porch watching the airplanes carrying water or fire retardent flying so low overhead that we could count their rivets!
So today was wash day in these parts. I did 4 loads and have one in the dryer and one in the washer yet! I walked into the living room to see the pile of clean clothes I had put on the sofa, laying on the floor and Liam in the middle rolling all the socks...what a helper boy!
My sister said that those weeds I talked about a couple posts ago are called Shot Weeds. And today I got out and tackled the biggest patch of them. The pea bed is ready to go for planting peas. It looks so tidy and clean now! And between David and I we have gotten the first section of raised bed pathways weeded! I can't wait to take pictures of the finished product...It looks sooooo bad right now! And tomorrow is our last nice day until next Tuesday...so David will be weeding for me while I go to a play date that can't be rescheduled. But I won't panic....the dead line to have all the weeding done and the backyard and patio area tidy and presentable is May 11th.
Tuesday nights is Ladies Bible Study at the Baptist church in my town. We have been enjoying a video series about the story of Israel from Abraham to today's installment of them wondering in the wilderness. I am learning so much! I thought I knew the Bible and understood things but there is layer upon layer of deeper meanings that I had no idea about. I always wondered why God hardened the Pharaohs heart so many times....it was because He was doing business with the main gods of the Egyptians which the Israelite' s had been buying into! There is a room among the ruins of a temple that has had little damage because it is protected from the elements...each of the gods are painted on the wall. God sent frogs to deal with the frog goddess...the goddess of fertility. Just amazes me! Today we saw the well that Moses led the people to and tossed the stick in to make the water drinkable! I am such a huge history buff and too see so much ancient history makes me giddy! I could write all night about what I have learned but it is my Bible reading time then lights out. Tomorrow will be a fun filled day!
