Hello Everyone! I have neglected my little corner of the internet. But not only have I been quite busy lately...I also no longer have David right down the hall to call whenever I need help posting. And I need help every time! Have I ever mentioned how technologically challenged I truly am?
Today I couldn't get any pictures to load. Craig shut down the computer and restarted it and that seemed to fix that problem. And since he is here right now I am typing without (much) fear:) Pretty sad don't you agree?
So, what has been happening at the Bradbury house since I was last on?
Well...the little birds went to a wildlife rehab center about 15 minutes from us. They were officially identified as Wrens after a brief period of being Nuthatches. The ladies at the center said I had done a fabulous job caring for them! Here is one of them perching on my hand right before we took them to the center.

Liam misses having them around and will periodically hold imaginary baby birds in his hand, bring them to me to feed, tell me when they no longer open their mouths and then takes them up to his room to put them to bed for a nap. Pretty cute I think:)
We have also had a prolonged episode of hives!
We have also had a prolonged episode of hives!
Monday morning he woke up with a couple red bumps on his thighs. Within an hour or so his thighs looked like this! The backs of his legs, the tops of his feet, his sides, a patch on his back, the backs of his arms and his wrists were covered! Yesterday we went to the doctor and since it is slowly resolving itself the doctor said to keep Benadryl on hand and recommended a Calendula/Coneflower ointment. I also picked up a bottle of Pantothenic Acid. This is supposed to take the hives away quickly. The doctor said that it was Contact Dermatitis and that Liam's skin has a histamine reaction to things. I already have him on no scent soaps. Any lotion he uses is scent free. No bubble baths either. From our visit to the coast I know he has an allergy to a plant over there. But this episode has me stumped. He came into contact with nothing new. He was either at church or in our home and yard the couple days leading up to this. The doctor thought maybe the cat. Poor Fiona...she is so misunderstood! I don't think it is the cat myself. But I suppose at this point nothing can be ruled out.
Then this happened!
Then this happened!
He officially fell and got his knees scraped up enough for bandaids! Almost four and this hadn't happened yet! What a time we had trying to clean the wounds. He was just sure we were going to cause him so much more pain. But once the bandaids were on he calmed down and actually wore them like a badge of honor:) Cute.
When I put him to bed last night he said "mommy don't pet me tonight, you might hurt my owies". You see, while we pray I generally will stroke his legs or back or tummy or whatever area happens to be right handy. And then this morning he woke me up all concerned because the green bandage had fallen off. The blue one is covering the worst sore so I told him it was okay and not to worry.
It might be hard to tell from this picture but he has the cutest little, though somewhat pudgy, legs on the planet. And I am always trying to kiss them....I think it drives him nuts sometimes.
This week was our churches version of vacation Bible school called Neighborhood Bible Time. It was a very hot week and I had volunteered to help out. I think I did pretty good for someone who doesn't function well when the temps get above 75! Eighteen teens accepted Christ on Tuesday evening! That is the only number I know. Liam went to the little kids class and did fairly well. He got time out one evening. I guess we are having a problem sharing. It is not easy being perfect every day! And each evening when we got in the van to go home he said "I will miss being at church". Bless his heart. But it sure will be good to be home this evening!!
Today is National Aunt and Uncle Day. My mom was an only child plus other than grandparents I didn't know much of anyone on that side of the family. I did meet my great aunt Frances and Uncle Roy a couple times. And I met aunt Irma and uncle Bing and Uncle Leo once. My moms dad had 9 or so siblings and that is all I met of them. Roy and Bing were spouses. My dad had a half brother and sister and then a full brother. Edgar his brother who passed away two months after my dad did, of the same thing, lived in Alaska all my life. They visited us once and I only remember one cousin...Elmer who I played hide and seek with. Cousin Linda I met while we were on our cruise to Alaska and spent a wonderful few hours with her. Dad's half sister Leona was married to the funnest man a kid could be blessed to call uncle and though we didn't get to see uncle Wayne near as much as we would have liked, when we did see him he made a grand time for us! Half brother John we only saw a couple times. It is very sad I think. I hear peoples stories about their family gatherings and all the relations they have and really envy them. So enjoy your aunts and uncles today!!
Stay cool and have a great evening!
