I didn't realize it was sugar cookie day or when Liam asked me this afternoon to make cookie dough I would have chosen that one. He wanted me to help him make cookie dough. A man after my own heart! I love cookie dough! So I made Toll House cookies but when I started to add the chocolate chips he said no. He is not much of a chocolate lover.
Liam and I took our monthly drive to Vancouver on the 30th of June to visit Auntie Pam. She had such a fun day planned for us! We went to Lake Victoria for a picnic and Liam ended up swimming as well. If you remember, I blogged about this park last fall. It is the one with the wonderful adult bottom sized swings! What fun! It is such a beautiful park!

Working on cooking our hotdogs. Though I think he ate most of it cold.
I don't know what was more fun for him...the really sharp skewers..........
Or the water.....isn't this a wonderful picture? That is Mount Hood I believe.
While Liam played and splashed around Pam and I had a great talk on the shore with our feet resting in the cool wet sand. I asked her parenting questions and she answered from her years of experience. I so appreciate her willingness to share what had worked for her with her boys.
I think that the older women teaching the younger women is a lost art. And I feel so blessed to have that in my life. Pam is not much older than me but God has put me in a very unique position with Liam coming so late in life. I sometimes feel like a 20-something when it comes to him. It is all new to me. New and on occasion, scary! Little boys can be very scary people!!! But OH SO PRECIOUS too!
And that leads right into today's Liamism: Yesterday I woke up with a lot of fibroid pain. This tends to happen but not at this point in my cycle. It concerned me and was really affecting how I was able to function. I left Liam at the computer doing ABC Mouse and headed upstairs to do my hair. As miserable as I was feeling I had to get ready for VBS. Instead of doing my hair I just lay down in bed and dozed on and off. Roughly 45 minutes later Liam came upstairs. "Mommy, what are you doing?" 'My tummy is hurting really bad and I am resting to try to get over it' I replied. He comes up to me and touches my arm. Then says "I will go get my doctor bag". He came back and put the stethoscope on my tummy and told me to breathe in deep. "Again mommy, again......I know what is wrong mommy" I ask him what he thinks is the matter with me...."you have a little monster in your tummy". Good, a diagnosis! He then got out the little medicine bottle, "here mommy, take this medicine". Then he took my blood pressure. That was okay. Finally he very gently kissed my tummy. I do believe that was the turning point. He crawled up in bed with me, after getting ALL his blankets and pillow from his bed, and talked and wiggled and wiggled and talked. He seemed unconcerned when I closed my eyes and I even managed to fall asleep a couple times during all this. By the time I got up almost two hours later I was experiencing a lot less pain and was able to move more normally. I think it was the kiss! Little monsters don't like kisses you know!!
