Every so often I find some wonderful magazines at the thrift stores I frequent. Although Reminisce is my favorite...Good Old Days will do the job. I found something very interesting in this copy of Good Old Days.
It would appear that we are not the only generation struggling with a corrupt and out of control government. Now I do know that throughout the centuries there has been horrible corruption. Cruel regimes wiping out millions of their own people. Far worse than what we have seen thus far here in America. But in this addition of the magazine there is a song. I had to chuckle. There used to be a couple of men featured in the Ziegfeld's Follies. They were a popular song writing duo, Ed Gallagher and Al Shean.
In 1922 they penned these words and put them to music. ...........
"Oh Mister Gallagher Oh Mister Gallagher"..
'Hello what's on your mind this morning Mister Shean?'
"Everybody's making fun of the way our countries run, all the papers say we'll soon live European!"
'Why Mister Shean Why Mister Shean, On the day they took away our old canteen, Cost of living went so high that it's cheaper now to die. Positively Mister Gallagher, absolutely Mister Shean.
In the second verse Mister Shean begs a couple bucks off of Mister Gallagher as he is 'So broke and badly bent and I haven't got a cent. I'm so clean you'd think that I was washed with Lux.'
Seems in 1922 there were people bemoaning their plight. But as we now have the luxury of looking back, we can see that America had some very rough years but also some very wonderful years. They also had a moral compass. Something long sense abandoned in our generation. I have seen wonderful years in my lifetime as well. But I do not feel that years from now our children will be able to look back and say the same thing. America, the land God blessed is losing that blessing. Forget the corruption in the upper echelons. Abortion clinics across the country are murdering millions of babies. Now there are people in high places who think that up to three months post birth a parent should still be able to make a life or death decision about that healthy child's life!!! How sick have we become!? We now put the egg of a Bald Eagle over the life of an unborn baby! Animals are being put on a higher platform than humans!
God said that in the end days good would become evil and evil would become good. We see that all around us. Sexual perversions just a couple decades ago are now common place and we are supposed to be quiet and accept them. The family is being torn apart, member by member. Father's are being made obsolete. I think that every person now knows at least one person with a 'medical marijuana card'. It is easier to do that than get a job. And no matter how they try to defend it there is enough proof (just looking at their lives) that this drug alters the mind. How are they taking care of the babies they bring into this world? Oh, that's right. Grandparents and the government. Grandparents pick up the slack and the government supports them financially. I as a tax payer support at least three young men that I know of. Able bodied young men who would rather play than work. Who would rather smoke weed than live a full and productive life. What fools we were to agreeing to the legalization of marijuana. But then over the last six years there appears to have been a boat load of fools voting.
I didn't really mean for this to turn into a rant. I just thought it interesting that in 1922 there was complaining about the government. And they think they had problems!
So I will leave you with a Liamism......words and thoughts out of the mouth and mind of a little boy who could very easily have become one of the abortion statistics, but whose mother chose life for him. Knowing she was going to give him up as soon as he was born, she carried him for nine months for another. I am truly blessed!
Holding up his had Liam said 'me, me, meeeeee, I know the question!' To daddy he said 'are you staying here all night?' Didn't they make a game show like that?
Bonus Liamism........'Mommy, I need my vitamins. I need six of them.' "You can only have two of them at a time" I reply. 'Well, can I have two at another time?'
