Daddy is doing a double tonight.. Those are hard nights for Liam. He convinces himself he is never going to see his dad again. But it also allows us to be a little more laid back about dinner. And what do you suppose was for dinner tonight? The title gave it away didn't it? Yep...he had a big ol' bowl of popcorn. He was so big. I wasn't responding quick enough so he got into the cupboard. Found the popcorn then pulled out the coffee pot and took it to the table in two pieces then pulled out the popcorn maker and set it up on the counter. On the outside I praised him for getting things ready so carefully, but on the inside I was crying out "you are growing way too fast for me!" He loves being big and doing big boy things. I knew it would happen but why does it have to happen so fast? Why can't he stay a baby for a few more years? Then age slower...like be 1 for three years, 2 for three years....get the idea? Those were such wonderful years. I suppose I am okay with 4 being only 12 months. We are in that 'negotiating and talking back' stage. He is quite a negotiator!
For a couple days he has been making a weird noise like he is trying to dislodge something from the back of his throat. This morning I decided to take a look at his tonsils. They were quite swollen a couple weeks ago. Well, that little dangly thing in the back of his throat was almost engulfed in one of the tonsils it was so swollen. They both are really inflamed. I was able to get him in to the doctor so rushed around to get there for the only available time slot until July! The doctor (a very nice naturopath) was quite impressed and also quite surprised that Liam has no complaint about soreness. He wants to let allergy season run its course and see him back in 6-8 weeks. Sooner if things get worse. That was a relief for me! Oh, he has lost 5 pounds and grown an inch since his last visit about two months ago. The doctor noticed right off that he had slimmed up.
So there we were in Salem...it seemed foolish to go back home just to come back into town a couple hours later for my piano lesson. We ran to pick up a couple things at Walmart and amazingly enough I kept it to a couple things!! Then we got gas. I had a quarter tank. $69.38 to fill the tank! How do they ever expect the economy to improve if most of the paycheck goes into the gas tank? But the good news is I am getting 24 miles to the gallon in mixed driving in my van! Next stop was Nature's Grocers. I really love that store. I was able to get organic grapes today for .60 less a pound than conventional grapes at the regular grocers. I like that! They generally have several apple varieties to choose from but today it was only granny smith and red delicious. The red delicious however looked a lot like braeburns. Anyway. We stocked up on fruits and veggies. There was another special moment with Liam. He is really discovering the world around him now. Never missing a thing. He wants to try everything! Today we put two peaches, two nectarines and a handful of radishes into the cart. He wanted me to cut into the radish here at home. It was a hot one! But he ate the two slices I gave him like a pro. As I have mentioned before, there are some food items that are not for eating according to him. Kiwi and Kumquats are in that group. They are pets. Kumquats make a very spendy pet at over $7 a pound! I love watching the world unfold through his eyes. Each day brings a new wonder. He has been talking a lot today about Homeschool. Right now he is going through one of his homeschool workbooks. It's a used one from a thrift store so I am okay with it. Not part of any curriculum.
Hey Lance! This next picture is for you guys!

He has been getting this book out every two days or so for the last couple weeks. He listens to it over and over. He keeps asking if he is the baby bear in the pictures. I tell him yes. And Uncle Lance and Aunt Missy are the big bears. Call me crazy but I love his feet. They are so expressive. He will tuck them around something like he is doing right now. And when he is trying to do something hard he will clench them . They remind me of little monkey feet at those times. I also love his cutest little legs!
I don't think I shared this picture. Here is Liam in his clip on ties. Another style he has. And we are getting ready to go on a bike ride. My bike is the one behind him...I love it! Daddy is fixing Liam's bike. Don't say anything but that bike has just not been right since then.
Today's Liamism is a common question I get. And one that I just got a few minutes ago. "Mommy, is it tomorrow yet?" We have found our fashion sense but not grasped time yet. Priceless!
