Five. What a big number. I will miss saying I am the aging mother of a four year old. I think when people hear you say you have a four year old they still conjure up images of a sweet toddler type person. But when you say a five year old that goes by the way side. At least that is what I think. Five year olds are so much bigger than four year olds. Just ask Liam! He feels so much bigger he said. Well, as you can see Liam had a Minion party. Walmart did the cake and I think it turned out really good. It was a cupcake cake. And he really liked it. He also blew out all the candles in one puff! See...he is getting so big!!
Grandpa and grandma came. Aunt Annette, Uncle Jack and Jacqueline came. We played an outside game and we played charades. It was hard to get this crowd moving. Normally we get together and sit around talking. But I had made phone calls in advance that since it was Liam's day we would be doing what Liam wanted. And sitting around talking is not fun in his book! Liam was amazingly good at charades! He is so smart! I think he gets it from me!! lol.
So here are some pictures from his special day. Or should I say the day before his special day.

He really likes the Minions and he loves things he can cuddle with...except me....that hurts my feelings some. Poor pitiful me.
My mom makes gifts hard to get into. She loves all the wrapping and ribbons:)
Hey grandma...I think he likes it!!
My mom and I had gone shopping back in September. She chose some gifts for him with my input. So I guess we both did good:)

Liam has a half sister named Grace. She always remembers his birthday and he always is very happy with her gift. Thank you Grace and Kelly.
And here he is the next day playing with the sand from grandma. It really is cool stuff. And so far he is really good about putting it back in the container when he is done playing with it.
So that was his birthday party. At one point during the evening he waved his arms in the air and said 'this is the best birthday I have ever had!!' Bless his heart. Next year I plan on doing a kid party for him. He will be at that age. And he can do anything but Chuck E Cheese. Anything! Please, Lord, don't let him ask for Chuck E Cheese!!
Today is the two year anniversary of my dad's death. And tonight a friend called and said her dad died this morning. Within 15 minutes of my dad's death, two years apart. I should have called my brother today. He misses dad so much and I could have offered comfort if he needed it. Sorry Lance. I failed. Our dad wasn't perfect but he was a good dad. He left us with many happy memories. Lately one of his traits has become very important to Lance and me. The way he would support without criticizing. He offered advice only when asked. As adults, he never caused us to second guess what we did. And all three of us long for that again. We miss you dad.
I will leave you with a Liamism: Liam was born at 7:45 the evening of the 6th. So all day on Monday he would ask...'am I still four?' So at 7pm I set the timer and told him that when the timer buzzed he would be five. When the timer buzzed he jumped straight into the air from sitting on the floor, punched his arms up and down and shouted 'I'm five!! I'm five!!!! YAAAAAAH!!!!" It was so cute. Then on Tuesday I asked him to come to me when he woke up. He came into my room and I said 'yup, you look older to me! Do you feel older?' "Yes I do" he said. Too cute.
