So here is another reason I have been bad about blogging....the excuses keep coming.....I love posting pictures of the family, the yard, garden, home.....things around here.......and I have not had any to post! I was going to slack again today but decided that I still read the blogs I like even if the pictures are not exciting sometimes....so...here is the update.
Fiona is doing fine. I did make the hard decision to put her on the Science Diet food. Did the run around about dry versus wet. They would sell me the dry with no feeding schedule but not the wet??!! Instead of sending me home with it ( since I was there to pick it up) and then calling me with the information they called me with the information and allowed me to go back and pick it up. I really want a different vet! My concern was just getting the numbers down quickly and then maintaining it with diet. According to the mainstream vet medicine once on a plan whether diet or pills...always on a plan whether diet or pills. I don't buy that one second. So....when they said to me that they were there for me and would do whatever I wanted done, they really meant, as long as you follow our guidelines and our plan we will be there for you and do whatever you want. Okey dokey then.
The carpet was repaired today! Over a week of it torn up and my furniture all over the room drove me insane! It feels so good to have my home back in order again! I learned one hard lesson through. It is never wise to treat your own spots or problem areas. The places where I scrubbed and scrubbed and worked to get spots or something off the carpet are now a nice bright orange. And the places I left alone and let him work on came as clean as clean could be! But I am not going to complain...really! I am so blessed in so many ways that a bright orange spot, or three on the carpet is nothing. So many people live in homes put together by whatever they can drag out of a landfill. Who am I to whine about carpet!
My sister had a birthday on the 19th.....46...wow is she old!!!! Did I mention she is my younger sister. Wow! Am I old!!!! I did such a nice birthday blog for my brother and so now will dedicate a section to my sister......

I just noticed that the same salt and pepper shaker are in both photos taken two years apart. Mom has changed a lot...she would never have something out of place in a photo now! Of course she doesn't have three little children to keep her busy either...and Auntie Pam will appreciate this....these pictures were taken on Claude street.
I do not know the little boy in the stripes walking off with Annette's present but the boy in yellow is Lance our brother.
My dad was an avid picture (or in the case of all these) slide taker. Sadly he was not so good at storing them and many were damaged beyond salvaging when he finally gave them to me. I imagine the rest of Annette's birthday pictures were probably lost. I know you look at her in the earlier pictures and see a cherub....don't for a minute believe it! She spent her childhood tattling and looking for ways to black mail Lance and me. And she has only gotten a tiny bit better at keeping secrets as an adult! Speaking of tattling....Liam is very quick to tattle also....now I realize it is not something learned but something ingrained in them.....but you may ask, who does he have to tattle on? US! Just tonight I hear "Oh no! I'm going to tell mommy"...."MOMMY!!!!" while running up the stairs....."daddy spilled soup on the carpet"! Yes...the very same carpet that just got cleaned....oh well.....the point of my story is we have to be careful because he will tattle on us!!
So kitchen news...I did mention in my introduction that I would include that sometimes.....dinner on Friday night was Costco rotisserie chicken, baked potatoes, broccoli and a cucumber tomato salad from the garden. Dinner on Saturday night was left over Costco chicken in Alfredo with our wonderful low carb pasta and green beans from the garden. Dinner tonight was chicken soup with the last of the chicken and left over pasta. It turned out wonderful! Not bad from a $4.99 chicken! And not bad considering we are not really soup people.
And garden news.....not much happening now that the rain has started. We are expecting a few sunny days soon so will use that time to pull up everything that is done or nearly done. The only things that will be left are the kale, chard and cabbage. I was hoping for more dry days to ripen more of the dry beans on the vine but that won't happen so I will be picking them as well. I have gotten a two pound bag of dry beans so far from just a couple quick pickings....this should turn out to be a very good crop! I'm hoping to have a few more tomatoes kissed just enough by the sun to ripen in the house. I am not ready to give up the homegrown taste yet! I will also pick all the grapes. The plant did very good for being its first year and the grapes are heavenly! Then all the empty beds will get covered with black plastic to prevent a repeat of the last few years....weeds so tall they dwarfed me and so deep rooted it took a man to dig them out! I did finally manage to get all the backyard blueberries fed. Now for the front yard ones. We got the boat covered so hopefully we won't have to pump hundreds of gallons of water out of it in the spring.
The headlights on my van are so dim that I can no longer drive it at night if it is raining. Craig ordered new lights and covers and everything since there was also pools of water in both from cracks in the plastic. They finally got here and wouldn't you know it, one of the boxes was quite damaged and a very necessary post on the right headlight to hold it in place was broken off. The company has no phone number to be reached at because they pride themselves in their superb e-mail system...well, after 4 days of trying to reach them for a response through e-mail they finally got back to us after Craig contacted E-Bay. Now we are waiting for instructions on sending it back to them. E-Bay says to send all the boxes back....Craig argued with them...only one thing is broken....he also ordered the side lights so there are technically 4 parts to the shipment....we still wait. They will not be too excited about the review we leave for them.
Now I end with a couple Liamisms.....
Liam...while watching the alphabet being sung on Sesame Street....
"mommy, I don't like G"
Well, do you like goats? or garden or gum or grapes?
"or toilet paper''
And talking to the carpet man...which he did the whole time the fellow was here.
"What is your name"
Jason
"oh...my name is Liam, my daddies name is daddy, he is a boy, are you a boy?"
And the other day while holding a tiny lego piece and waving it around making a spraying sound....
"this is a Super Sprout Steam Reflective Beehive Spray".
So...I get the super, the sprout, the steam, the beehive and the spray....these are all words or things in his life. But where in the world did he hear Reflective? And no, he could not tell me what it meant.
Have a wonderful night all!
