Liam's big day did not turn out at all like it had been planned. My parents and sister and her family were going to be here. We were going to have dinner and celebrate Liam's birthday with cake and gifts and lots of picture taking. By 7 last night I was pretty sure I was coming down with a cold. I had to call my mom because colds put her in bed for a few weeks and generally end up in her chest and she is miserable. They cancelled their trip over. My sister cancelled also. So at 8 last night I was on the phone to all the moms of his little friends and one of his special friends Susan, literally begging them to come to a spur of the moment party. I have some wonderful friends! There were no gifts from them because that party is going to be on the 12th. And Liam didn't know one way or the other. What Liam knew was he was surrounded by people that are part of his life and children that he plays with on a regular basis. It was so sweet....two of the little boys brought him cards they had made. He was so overjoyed to get them! He would not have had a better response if it had been toys. I had a wonderful time visiting with the mommies also.
But there is more to this story. Because mom's gift wouldn't be here, Annette's gift wouldn't be here, a gift from his half sister Grace hadn't arrived and my brother and sister in law's gift also had not arrived I felt that the one box of lego's we had for him and the let down of grandma and grandpa and Jacqueline not coming would not go over well...probably more so for me than for him......sooooooo. A couple days earlier while at Wal-Mart he had fallen in love with a cat that interacts with you. It meows and purrs and moves its legs and cuddles. When we left the toy section, instead of putting up a fight about leaving the cat he waved to it and said he would miss it. Last night, at 10pm, his wonderful daddy ran to Wal-Mart and got him that cat. Evidently it meowed all the way home and Craig was ready to get rid of it...but he is being a good sport about it now. The thing about this cat is.....it's obviously a girls toy. But Liam doesn't have to know. Here he is with the cat that he has named Hello Kitty...so original!

Sorry about the fuzziness of these pictures. It's a good thing I never went into photography!
And here is Liam playing with one of his little friends, James. They are making soup.

These were a couple of dirty little boys when they finished! But they had a blast!
I will now leave you with a couple pictures taken 4 years ago.
