We had a change of plans last week. One of the little girls got the stomach flu early the morning we were supposed to leave for Coos Bay. So we put it off a day in hopes that she would feel up to travel the next day. Well, the next day one of her sisters came down with it. So, on Wednesday we had an all day play date with those who were well. Then we planned another for Friday. By that time all the sick ones were well and no one else had gotten it. Liam got in two great days of play with his friends and Craig got one full day without us pestering him at home. So it all worked out. Now we are working on times for our next attempt at the trip.
It has been cold here. Barely getting into the 40's for our highs. Today was 40. But the sun did peep out in the afternoon and had Liam convinced that it was warm enough to fill his kiddie pool and let him swim. He was none to happy when I said no. He did get out today at indoor park. A couple of his friends showed up and he burned off some energy.
This evening I finally got around to having him make out thank you cards for Christmas gifts. When I wasn't looking he drew on himself with the permanent markers...olive green to be exact. He had shed his clothes earlier this evening so from his neck around his tummy with a couple dots here and there, and then around his back...we aren't quite sure how it got all across his back. He also painted a couple fingernails. Yes..olive green.
I had my first piano lesson in many many years yesterday. One of the books I am working out of again is from my early years. The piano teacher had filled out the completion award in the back on March 16, 1977! And now it is all new to me again. My biggest problem with it all is the fingering. I am lousy at keeping my fingers where they should be. Now I understand that finger placement helps the song go more smoothly. But I can play everything she has assigned me much faster if I let my fingers go where they want to. But I am going to do what I have to do. And that is putting the right fingers on the keys they are to play. So I am going slowly along. I am noticing improvement in one of the songs already! I spent quite a while playing the treble cleft then I did the same on the bass cleft then I slowly combined them. Seemed to work for me. Practice seems to get interrupted often. Either Liam needing help, dinner needing stirred, lunch needing fixed. But that is just the way my life is now. And I wouldn't trade it for anything! Liam has been building 'houses' a lot lately out of pillows and blankets. Either on the floor or on the sofa. Today he and I snuggled in one of the houses and had such a sweet time together. Then I got up and he got out his big bear and made another house.

Then I let him take a few pictures with my camera.
Today's Liamism:
I was practicing on the piano. When I got up Liam said "okay mommy, now you can have your special treat". You see, I had gotten to the bribing point to get him to practice. I know, bad bad bad but I was desperate! So he walked me to the cupboard where the special treats are kept and got me one. I gave it to him but he still wanted to share. Such a sweet little man.
