Speaking of water...Liamn did a really funny thing last Friday. We were heading out the door to a birthday party and he had a water bottle with a flip up straw. As I approached the door I saw he had the straw up his nose and before I could say anything his face told me what he had done. The poor boy had sniffed enough water up his nose to cause the burn. He started to cry and I held and comforted him and explained to him that we don't sniff water up our nose...his response..."elephant's does". Bless his heart.
Speaking of water again....I have not had to water my garden for nearly two weeks. Nature is taking care of that job. And under the circumstances I want it back! We are drowning here! The beets and chard are coming up, and the cauliflower, bok choy, cabbages and lettuces are looking good. But everything else is ready for some sun and warmer weather. They keep promising us that but it seems to be pushed back a day every time they give a weather report. But compared to other parts of the country we are so blessed and I should quit complaining! Have I mentioned my apple trees? Between them there is minimally 100 apples! I imagine that I will have to do a little thinning as the season wears on. I have already thinned out the smallest of the fruit. Some of the clusters are pretty crowded already. But I am just way too excited about this. Have I mentioned the cherry trees...between the two there is about three cherries. Last year they were quite loaded for the size of trees they are. Who can figure it out? Last year it was cherries and this year it is apples.
Today is the last day of Indoor Park for the summer. I am glad. A few months ago a new family joined and since then I have worked at avoiding the place. Pretty bad since I am also a board member. A friend also from Indoor Park reminded me that God brings people into our lives for a reason. And some are there to refine us. Well, this lady is the most abrasive woman I have ever met! And her daughters are just down right mean. I spend my time with an eagle eye on Liam so I can be on top of any situation they put him in. I have been praying lately for God to give me the kind of love He has for people. My list stops just shy of her. Pretty sad on my part. But she is the type of person that mocks you and calls you a conspiracy theorist if you disagree with what our government is up to. It is funny how liberals demand that we tolerate them yet they have no tolerance for us. Her ideas, experiences, stories are far better than yours, she interrupts all the conversations around her....and saldy I am not handling her with the love that I am praying for and wanting to show the people who come into my life. I think God should start on an easier person. Ease me into this. Doesn't that seem fair?
Tuesday evening after Bible study two ladies came over and with David that made four of us for some exciting games of Dutch Blitz. I came in second. It seems that the person who keeps score tends to win...I wonder how that happens...and the score keeper was the winner. hmmmmmmm....... But it was such a great time!
I will leave you with a parting shot of the little boy possum. He has gotten so sweet and will be very hard to release later this week. He heard David with the camera but right before this picture was taken he was laying almost totally on his back all stretched out while I rubbed his neck...eyes closed and just loving it. He will be missed.
