With a little help from Liam, Craig remembered my birthday. I woke up the morning of the 12th to find two dozen roses in the fridge. I should be ashamed of myself for saying this...and I am....but someday I hope to have a flower arrangement I do not have to trim and put into a vase myself. But they did make a beautiful display! I decided that Shrimp Fettuccini sounded wonderful for dinner and I had all the ingredients except the green onion. I ran to the little store in our town and was able to choose between four pitiful bunches of them. Only four very little plants per bunch and I had to basically cut off all but one stalk per plant as they were so brown and limp. But I ended up with enough to top my plate full. Just to find out they were very old and very strong! Craig, bless his heart, asked if he could make me something for dinner......you may thing, ahhhh what a sweet guy. Well, he asked that as I was dumping the cooked pasta into the sauce. He did however manage to get to me before many dishes had been washed and finished up the kitchen cleanup. Except the stove. Why is it he never notices the stove?! Okay...I think I am through husband bashing! David never noticed the stove either! I am done husband bashing but I said nothing about step son bashing! Oh...wait, I can't bash him...he keeps my blog moving smoothly!
The jars above are about half of the ones I was given by a friend named Melanie. There were a lot of jelly jars but also quite a few pints and quarts! There were also 4 boxes of pectin that still have a year until they expire, 8 boxes of large mouth lids and 5 boxes of narrow mouth lids!

Then another friend...also Melanie....called me up and asked if I had any desire for these! Of course! Since I was coming up to a really busy week I just popped them into freezer bags to turn into jam when things calm down. Aren't they gorgeous!? Liam did enjoy quite a few fresh.
Liam wanted to be a Prince. A few years ago I bought a couple Halloween costumes at the end of Halloween for about a dollar. Thinking that Liam may one day enjoy dressing up. We do not do Halloween. Sure enough he did. On this particular night I was cooking and looking something up on the computer upstairs. Craig called up to me to ask if I wanted what was in the pot to boil. I asked him if he had checked it. His response " no...I am just the princess on the couch in the castle". Sure enough he was. I checked the boiling pot myself:) To Infinity...and Beyond little Prince!!!
He likes to go 'shopping' every so often. What he does is he gets something he can put things into...then he goes into the kitchen and gets things off the counter or out of the cabinet. He takes them to the sofa and dumps them out to 'pay' for them. Then I come along and remind him he has to put them back and he sinks to the floor and claims he is 'soooooo tired'....well that is for another post. But after this particular shopping trip he didn't put up a fuss as he took them back into the kitchen. And this is what I found when I went in. He actually had stacked them quite high! I was impressed.
Back to my birthday. On the 15th Auntie Pam came and took me out to lunch and then we spent not nearly enough time at the Antique Mall in Albany. It was so fun and so full of wonderful things. Auntie Pam pointed out that it was pretty bad when you saw things you remember as a kid in an antique store. She is right!!! I found a few really sweet Thanksgiving cookie cutters. I am going to be making sugar cookies for Liam and Jacqueline to decorate on Thanksgiving day. I also found two tea cups. I love tea cups and would like to get eight. I so far have five. Auntie Pam makes the dresses I wear. And she made me one for my birthday! I love it! Such a special gift. It was just a wonderful day. What made it just a little more wonderful was Liam stayed with daddy. I got Auntie Pam all to myself and we visited and solved all the worlds problems with no interruptions! Thank you so much Pam!
Then on the 20th Another friend and I snuck off without kids to a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant she introduced me to...for a number 25. It is the best flavored Broccoli Beef I have ever eaten over fried rice noodle wedges. The combination is amazing! After we ate that and a couple appetizers that were equally as yummy, she took the check and said happy birthday! What a nice surprise! Thank you so much Donaca!
A few weeks ago my sister in law and I got in a discussion and during it I told her that she needed to go to the 1828 Webster's dictionary for definitions to a few words. I told her to check out the definition of Marriage in the 1828 and then in a current one. She was shocked with the difference and agreed that the 1828 definition was beautiful and so meaningful. She asked if I had one of those dictionaries and I said no. I would love to have one but didn't yet. I just looked things up on the computer when I needed to. A week later my birthday present from her comes in the mail. An 1828 Webster's Dictionary! I look forward to utilizing that as Liam continues in schooling. Thank you so much Melissa!
My next entry will be garden stuff. And a little cooking stuff. And I am sure a bunch of Liam stuff!
I will leave you with a recent Liamism...or three.
On my birthday he looked at me with a serious expression and said:
"mommy...are you finking what I am finking"
He asked daddy recently:
"do you want an other Liam?" Oh heavens no!!! We love the one we have so much!
And something new he is doing...he will ask one of us a question then say:
"yes or no....can I have ????...yes or no" Today he begged for a ferret...."yes or no mommy?" No Liam.
