Sadly I didn't read it was Pecan Pie day until today so didn't plan for it. Of course...that might be a really good thing. Craig and I would have no problems downing one, or several of them!
Updates around our place are......the baby birds are all doing well. I did discover that between sometime yesterday and this morning each of them got dried doo doo on their bottoms that needed to be cleaned. So got that taken care of and all appear to be doing their business just fine. After I had cleaned them up (at 6:30 this morning!!) I held them all in a soft rag while they dried. Oh the precious little peeps coming from under that rag. I think they were feeling so content, almost like mommy sitting on them again. Bless their little hearts that they no longer have her.
The chicks are doing great! I still have to put them on the roost in the coop each night...no, I still have to get them into the coop each night. They huddle at the cat door pleading to come into the house:)
I decided I am having a problem with my cauliflower. And I think it is the really warm days we have been having earlier in the season than normal. Out of two mature heads I will only be able to eat one. Not really good returns. And the other plants are not even forming heads yet! Not sure what is happening.
I am having a real problem with one pesky creature this year.....

Yep! The Cucumber Beetle. This morning while I was out and saw all the damage to my beans and greens and so many of the varmints flying around I caught one, gave it to Liam and told him that this bug was the only one he had permission to catch and kill. Maybe now I will have some control over them!
This is a stock photo but my beans are resembling this now! And I am juicing once a day and want to be able to use my beet greens and swiss chard. They are not in much better shape! This morning I dusted them with Seven. I hated doing it but at this point I would much rather give the leaves a really good washing them lose them to bugs! And maybe between Liam and Seven their population would dwindle.
You know...as I typed this something came into my thoughts. This bug and the damage they do can be turned into a story about our walk with the Lord. Isn't it interesting how so many things you can do that with? I think the bug stands for wrong influences in our lives. T.V., computer, types of music, people......and the damage done leaves us with holes that weaken our walk with the Lord. Our spiritual structure begins to fail and it affects the fruits we bear. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness.......etc. At times in my life I have allowed things to affect my relationship with God. Then what would Seven stand for? The Holy Spirit convicting us of our wrong? God's protection from the world? A very interesting analogy.
Today Craig put Liam in time out for having a fit over putting a kitchen gadget away that he knew not to play with.
"Five minutes of time out Liam"
"No daddy, two daddy, two " through the tears.
"Two what?"
"Two minutes of this" as he points toward the area in from of him on the sofa.
Even Abraham negotiated with God! Liam still got his five minutes.
