Today we rode the Amtrak from Albany to Eugene and back! Need- less to say this was one really excited young man! He is so into trains that taking him on a ride in one seemed the greatest idea. He loved it! He loved the chairs and eating his snack while moving. He loved walking on a moving train and seeing the cars driving along the tracks like we have done so many times. Well.. normally we have to pull off the road and roll down the windows as a train is going by. On the way home a woman all of a sudden asked him, by name, if he was enjoying the train ride. I was at first startled because I had no idea who she was...then I realized that she heard us saying his name...Liam, sit down, Liam, quit picking up garbage, Liam listen to me....get the picture...I am sure the whole car knew his name by then! But Liam was quite puzzled by this woman who called him by name and asked him questions. He normally has no problem talking to strangers but he was quite shy this time. She was very nice and I ended up chatting with her for a little bit. Eugene is an interesting place. Yep, quite interesting. Within walking distance of the train station there was only one open eatery that allowed minors...and they did not serve meat on their sandwiches. We did go into a huge book store. I had never seen anything like the piles and piles of books taller than me stacked everywhere! Shelves lined with books and more books stacked in front of them! Thousands upon thousands of books! I love books! And I loved this book store!!
Then as we waited in Eugene for the return train I was eating a piece of red licorice and lost a crown! That is a strange feeling! Fortunately I have the crown and hopefully will find a dentist on Monday who will put it back in place. I am going to call the dentist whose flyer came to the house a month or two ago. I will beg them to see me soon even though they have never seen me before. I guess you could say I have a lousy track record with dentists.
So it was quite a day! Here are a few more pictures of our adventure.

I begged him to please look at the camera for this picture...he looked everywhere else!
Please Liam...look at the camera...stop with the faces! Pleeeeeze!
Thank you!
This amazing Victorian was right across the tracks from the station. It is open for tours and between that and a restaurant that was near the station where you eat in railroad cars and a model train store we heard about we may be taking a drive back to Eugene in the future.
And now for a Liamism: Recently he said to daddy "I'm glad" Craig said 'about what' "About you" 'About me?' " I'm glad about you coming home."
