In July we went to Foster Reservoir to boat around the lake and also meet friends for a picnic and playing in the water. We had great fun! Then a few weeks ago we hooked up the boat on a really great day and made our way back to Foster to do some more boating. Craig wanted to run out the gas in the tank so it didn't sit all winter and it was such a great sunny warm day!
So here is the Then and Now pictures. What a difference a couple months make!

I do not have a before of this picture...but we tied the boat up to the first section of dock in this picture and had our picnic back in the trees.
But it was a beautiful day!
But it was a beautiful day!
And just to make sure we went to the other side of the lake to the boat ramp my dad had always used when we were kids.....
It was a very enjoyable day and the drive was nice. I did a little more walking that I should have and paid for it for a couple days but I am glad we went. It got all of us out of the house and away from the tv! Craig came home from this outing and checked on line for current lake information. There should be a state run, up to date website where you can find out lake levels before you make an hour trip! We wanted to try Triangle Lake where I spent so many many happy childhood days. And since it is a lake and not a reservoir which is periodically drained, the levels should be fine. But we are out of nice boating weather for the year I think. At least I hope! I am very ready for winter! But Craig still wants to use up the gas in the tank so it isn't stored all winter...maybe he and his friend will take it to the bay.
So today is Halloween. We do not celebrate it. Liam, though accepting, struggles with the fact that he misses out on costumes and candy. This is the first year he has really questioned about it and I explained to him that it is a celebration of evil. And that Jesus tells us to stay away from evil. That made sense to him and he seemed to understand the reason. But what excitement when we got an invitation to a birthday party for one of his friends at church! He will be able to spend nearly the entire day and part of the evening with all his friends from church! Halloween will be over and done with by the time we get home and he will have had a great time and not even missed it!
I will now leave you with a Liamism: The day before yesterday as we were working on school he was struggling with making his small a's. He started mumbling and then said "I am just not happy with this situation." a's can do that to a fellow you know:)
