One Heck of a Dune!
On Monday we went to the dunes just outside of town and had a picnic lunch in 60 mile an hour winds....I really don't think I am exaggerating about that either! I climbed one dune but when they decided to climb this one I opted out. I was feeling the tightness of my sacroiliac and have no desire to ever relive that pain again...plus I needed to go potty and my momma didn't raide a daughter to go potty by a tree!
As it turns out this dune was many feet tall and nearly vertical! The very precious woman, whose home we stayed at, took Liam and off they all went. As I understand it, it was while climbing up this dune that Liam felt the call of nature. Grandma Charlette, shouting to be heard over the wind, warned everyone to stay back so as not to be hit but flying liquid! They had made the climb to play in the pools left by recent rain...getting to the top they found that water had all dried up. So my relaxing time in the van trying to catch up on my Bible reading was cut very short...but I did visit a very nice clean bathroom! Here is a very pristine dune....

And after the assault...this is Liam and Grandma Charlette coming down. Gives you a little idea about how vertical that dune was!
On Tuesday we took a beautiful hike along the stunning Oregon coast after a nice picnic lunch. Not much wind and no sand to contend with this time!

Liam might have been a little tired at this point...I know I was!
This was on the edge of a cliff and it appeared that only the tree roots were holding things together!
After lawn mowers and balls, Liam's favorite pass time is catching poor defenseless bugs. This one did end up going free but I think it might have been mortally wounded.
They finally found water! And again there is Grandma Charlette in the midst of them. She is 20 years older than me but you would never guess it...she is so active and it seems nothing slows her down mentally or physically!!
Liam said the cutest thing on Tuesday night...I had put him to bed and a few minutes later one of the girls realized her pajamas were in that room...then a second girl also had to go in...Liam let out a sigh while the second one was in there and said "now I have to start all over again"...the girl asked him doing what. He said "going to bed". Bless his heart!

I was in charge of two meals during this trip...so I made breakfast casseroles and Taco Pasta which is always a hit. I also made a desert...Liam is helping me here with that.
The evening we got home I wanted something very simple for dinner...everyone loves 'panacakes'. Here is Liam helping with that as well. Such a helper boy he is!
The May before Liam was born Craig's mom took us on a wonderful Alaskan cruise! It was the end of May and my garden suffered so badly while I was gone, even with the house sitter watering. I vowed I would never again go on vacation in May or June. Well...I suppose vows were made to be broken...at least this one. So while I was gone Craig kept up the watering and did a pretty good job. In 24 feet of green beans only two came up...I don't mean two feet...I mean two plants! So this morning he tilled that bed again and this evening I am going to replant from a different bag of beans! My dry beans came up but I do need to fill in a few large sections. And I lost a lot of strawberries! As I picked yesterday morning I was shocked at how many were way past their prime. And most of what I picked are a little to far gone for just eating, though that didn't slow Liam down, but they will make really good shortcake! So total from my garden so far this year I have picked 10 pounds of strawberries.

I spent this morning weeding the front yard and now am moving the hose from plant to plant as the ones planted last year when we landscaped were looking a little dry.
While I was gone I think the little boy possum doubled in size but the little girl lost a little. I was hoping to release them last night but never got a call back from the family I am taking them to. So I get some more time to cuddle and fall more in love with that little fellow! Such a sweet little rolly polly body! I am still trying to figure out who will scramble their eggs twice a day in the wild for them! And I am still tossing around ideas to make it work to keep him. The problem is his size...right now he is a tasty morsel for Fiona if she takes a notion.
So I think I have caught you all up. It is sure good to be home but the temperatures on the coast are much more appealing to me! Our area has been now nearly a week in the low 80's and I am really tired of it!!!! Mid 70's is the warmest I want it! Okay, I will quit complaining...I know two people for sure reading this who probably want to slap my right now!
I best get dinner going...have a wonderful weekend!
