Actually it was two days canning. Friday I canned 16 pints of chicken and today I canned 4 quarts of chicken soup. I held out a bowl each for Liam and me. He has had such a bad cough and the runny nose. The doctor is sure it is allergies...I hope so for the sake of those who have been around him. I am on the tail end of a cold so the soup just felt good going down! While I was making it Liam decided that he was a baby bird and I was the mommy bird. He called me momma bird and I had to call him baby bird. I had to use his doctor kit to doctor his sore wing and hurt leg. Thank goodness this time his ears were not broken! But as it turned out a lot of doctoring was required for all the other ailments. So once the soup had cooled and I was waiting for the canner to vent it was necessary for me to feed him each spoonful. Hurt wings just do not work when you feed yourself. Then he asked for more. I only saved out one bowl for him thinking I would probably be lucky to get that down him. Bless his heart...he likes my soup! And it brought back memories of a little baby boy needing me to feed him. Precious precious memories. So him and I stayed in and warm and quiet today. He had not coughed but once all afternoon. Then daddy got up....or should I say Daddy Bird. Then the bouncing around, dancing, singing, jumping and boy stuff started...then the cough came back. I blame his father.
My niece had a volleyball game out here in Jefferson last week. It is the first one I had gone to. It was really quite exciting. She is the tallest girl on her team. And did a couple of really amazing saves. They did however lose. Those Jefferson girls were all older and taller. They grow 'em big out here in the country.
Liam went with me...it was very hard for him and emotions ran high. He didn't understand why he couldn't get out and play with the balls that were flying every which way. One ended up near us and he was able to grab it and hand it to one of the players. That appeased him. But the buzzer scared him. And though we were there for both matches we had to leave before the third token match. All the way to the car he talked about how scary the loud noise had been and that he didn't want to go back ever again.

I am sure you have guessed that she is number 24. The pictures of her facing me all turned out too dark to post. So here are a couple from last Wednesday.
Liam loves when Jacqueline plays the piano...he always accompanies her. Right after this picture my sister joined them...she and Jacqueline played a duet and Liam also had his part. I wish I could post a video. because it was hilarious....a lot of noise but a lot of fun! My niece is an amazing pianist...much like her mother and uncle were. This is one gift she does not get from me. I will claim all the others....except the math one.....that is also so not from me!
Today Liam asked if he could dump out one of his buckets of blocks. I asked if he would pick them up without complaining and throwing a fit when he was done. He said yes...he always says yes...anyway.... a while later he wanted to get out another toy that would cause a big mess. I said that first he needed to pick up his blocks.
"oh yes mommy....I will" Doesn't that just melt your heart?! After working at it for a minute or two he asked me if I would help him. I reminded him that I had been working in the kitchen when the dumping took place.
"oh, you are right mommy'
I was not opposed to helping him and had he pushed it I would have...but he just so willingly finished the job with no further question and I praised him like crazy when he was done. He likes to have it pointed out that now that he is 4 he is doing so much more bigger boy things!
I got a call from my brother today. I am officially the family picture hoarder. He is reading my blog now! And though his memory is very bad and he has been given a few copies of the disk with all the slides on it.....Lance......Craig made another today and we will send it...again......Lance. So this last picture is for you guys.......Liam with the car you sent him for his birthday....enjoy!

The green stain on the brown pillow....Liam's fault!
