Can I just say how glad I will be when summer is over? The heat is really getting to me. Anything above 75 degrees is too warm and we have had, now, over 30 days of 90 or above! And the two or three days of cooler temps they have thrown in have been in the 80's. I am tired of it. It was a horrible green bean year. Not just for me but for several people I have talked to...could it be the heat? I think I only got one picking that the beans were not hollow. Dried out and hollow. But cucumbers must like heat...I have gotten about 120 pounds of cucumbers alone!
So, there....I got my complaint and gripe out of the way right off the bat. The rest of this post should be pleasant and uplifting.
We went to the fair two weeks ago. Liam loved the fair. Liam did not like the ride in the above picture. Neither did daddy. I will say that was one of the days that was in the 80's with quite a lot of cloud cover. So it was a pretty nice day at the fair!

The petting zoo was fun. I imagine these animals are pretty tired of little people at the end of the day! There is no picture of it, but Liam got to pet the cutest little piglet. Oh my his little tail just went a mile a minute! The pigs...not Liam's.
I just love this smile! Right after this picture was taken he lost sight of us. We never lost sight of him and were only a couple feet away but he could not hear us calling him in the crowd. The panic on his little face broke my heart! I ran to him and he hugged me so tight and said "I fought I lost you mommy." He still doesn't pronounce the TH sound. We were very very careful to keep him right with us. The fair is a crazy, crowded place.
This ride allows the child to go up or down as they want. Once he figured that out he didn't come down until the end of the ride. And he never smiled. He had this serious look the entire time. I have no idea what was going on in his head. But he said he really liked it.
He didn't smile much with this one either. But he admitted he was a little scared and he worried his flippies would fall off his feet.
The beginnings of a smile. He and I went on the Ferris Wheel together. He loved that one and smiled and laughed the whole time. So he does, in fact, like rides. But I think the most fun he had other than eating cotton candy was dancing with daddy.
Craig tried to leave the dance floor after one dance. Laim would have none of that. I had danced for three songs so daddy had to stay out that long as well. They were playing a lot of early 80's pop rock. Brought back memories.
So we had a nice time. On the way out of the parking lot afterwards the friend we had gone with said that she never needed to go back to the fair again. She had evidently gotten it out of her system. Craig agreed with her. And here is poor Liam "we can't go back to the fair ever again!!!" I pointed out that he just discovered the fair and now there was talk about never going back. That would upset anyone. I used to try to eat my way from one end of the fair to the other. But that is no longer feasible. Not only do I not want to eat that much (shock) but at the prices of food, who can afford it!? So I set out to eat just a couple things. I knew I wanted an Elephant Ear. That is something I can't make at home...I do know how to make Funnel Cakes though. And I wanted something smothered in grilled onions. Well...nothing smothered in grilled onions really temped me. What did temp me was a Gyro. Back when I was in my late teens early 20's there was a little gyros shop in the mall. I remembered how much I used to enjoy them. So I had a lamb gyro. And it was very very good! My gyro was good, my elephant ear was good. I was quite content with my food choices. On our way out I thought that a snow cone sounded refreshing so I got one. I did not enjoy it at all. The ice was so chunky and within a minute of getting it I realized that it was quite melted by the time I got it. I took a couple bites and dumped the rest out on the dry thirsty grass. Hope it also liked the pink lemonade flavor!
September is my mom and sister's birthday months....not to mention a couple of my dear friends as well. So very soon my mom and step dad will be getting here for a three day visit and party. The house is clean and all I have left to do is empty the dishwasher and tidy the kitchen counters. My mom has this thing about counters...she likes them and feels a need to have enough room to work on them. I on the other hand think they are great for showing off all my collectables. Who wants to take up space with something practical when you can have something pretty. I am so unlike my mom and sister that I wonder just where I was found. But I look too much like my dad to wonder for long. And if truth be told, I am enjoying space and clutter freedom more and more as I get older. Seems I am requiring more counter space to do what I need to do. Maybe my mom is on to something?
So, if I don't post again in the next three days then you know why and I have a really good excuse! But the camera is full of pictures for posts and we celebrated Auntie Pam's birthday so that post is coming. It's funny how busy I have been yet it seems I haven't much to write about. Or maybe the heat is sapping my brain cells...that is a very good possibility you know?
I will leave you with a Liamism: Yesterday Liam came up when I was nearly done with all the cleaning and organizing of his class room, which is also the room mom sleeps in when they visit. There was a pile of things needing to be sorted at the top of the stairs. "Oh mommy! Good job! You are a good cleaner!" then as he walked into the classroom "Wow! This is very complicated! Good job cleaning mommy!!" I'm out to please you little man!
